During the last two years of my marriage, I had started keeping a very detailed journal in the form of a Word document on my computer. Finally doing the right thing, I left my abusive husband, which helped me to gain strength and mental clarity.
I have been out of that house and separated from him for 7 months and I have never once regretted it. In moments of self-doubt, I'll re-read my journal, and it transports me back to that argument. Reading my journal reassures me that I did the right thing for myself and my kids.
I have started reformatting some of my journal entries into blog posts, and I think I'm ready to start sharing it with others who might benefit from hearing someone else's experience.
